That Glenn Beck is one of the most reprehensible and icky opportunists out there is certainly not news, however he may have just sunk to an all new low. In a teaser promising to devote at least 10 whole minutes of this evening's program to babble incoherently and conspiratorially about the chaos gripping the Ukraine, he begins by predicting that Putin will send his military in to take over the sovereign nation and end the violence. He then goes on to assert that the only thing that can hope to stop something like this from happening in the United States is to do some shopping over at his program's sponsor Goldline.

What you're seeing in the Ukraine, I'm going to do probably about 10 minutes on the Ukraine today and it's really important that you understand what's happening in the Ukraine because they're now giving, they've now just okayed all of the military equipment for the local police. Well, we've already done that here in the United States. And when did the Ukraine, when did that really happen? What happened there?

I'll show you tonight, but what happened there was 2008 and it has just taken this amount of time to get there. And now, they are in total chaos and Putin is going to come in and take over that country. You watch. He will put Russian troops onto the streets of the Ukraine because he can bail them out and nobody else will.

So that's what's happening in the Ukraine, and the people of the Ukraine lose in the end. So how do you stop that from happening to us? Well, Goldline.

Seriously, how craven and bereft of human empathy does one have to be? Reports from today estimating scores were killed and hundreds wounded have been met with grave concern around the world. The country sits on a powder keg with the very real potential for more loss of life and all out civil war. For Glenn Beck, however, it simply serves as the ideal moment to hawk gold by scaring the living daylights out of his easily manipulated mouth-breathing audience. What a putrid little man.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
