Because, of course the changing climate isn’t destroying the planet. What it’s doing is making it nearly impossible for humans to live here. And once the human race is eliminated, the planet will recover very nicely. We really won’t be missed!!
It’s been several weeks now since I last heard the phrase, “I’m not a scientist…”
Thank goodness, because I was becoming convinced that if I heard one more Senator or Congressperson (most especially John Boener!), when asked about climate change, explain that, “I’m not a scientist”, I was prepared to actually break my TV!! I mean, just how stupid do these people think we are??
We already know they’re not scientists (it’s really, really obvious), but they can read, can’t they? As members of the United States Congress or Senate, they have access to the most highly regarded scientists in the world! They have an abundance of staff to research in the most advanced libraries in the world!
Or is the ability of our planet to support humankind not important enough to warrant their precious time to LEARN about? Every member of our government has some family or loved ones who will live beyond their term of office. Children or nieces and nephews, or lovers; they all have a future that will include breathing, drinking water, and eating food!
Whether climate change is all caused by humans or just exacerbated by us, we can make a difference in what’s happening. We powerful humans can make our own changes to climate. We could actually do some good for ourselves.
Because, of course the changing climate isn’t destroying the planet. What it’s doing is making it nearly impossible for humans to live here. There will be other species that suffer, many already are. But once the human race is eliminated, the planet will recover very nicely. We really won’t be missed!!
So, we know politicians say stupid stuff, now the question is, where the hell are members of the media when these idiots make these ridiculous statements? Are they just as stupid? Are they also paid off by oil companies and coal companies and all the rest of the polluters of our planet? Or are they just afraid of being honest?
When politicians make idiotic statements like “I’m not a scientist, (duh!)”, and they are not challenged, ordinary people accept that it’s a valid argument. I will even admit to that carelessness myself. It’s only later, when I have time to think about it, that I realize how stupid it (and I) was.
And, as long as I’m naming John Boener, will he ever stop pretending that he is speaking for “the American people”? As in, “Mr. President, the American people are asking, ‘where are the jobs?’”
I’d like to remind the Speaker, that the majority of the American people voted for Barack Obama TWICE to be their president. We voted for him and his policies and goals, and ideals.
Where are the jobs?? Roughly 93% of the country is working! Yes, I know, they are not all working in jobs with the pay and benefits they deserve, but that’s clearly not the fault of the president.
President Obama couldn’t convince the Republicans to raise the federal minimum wage nationwide, but he did raise the starting pay for federal contractors to $10.10 per hour. It’s only a beginning, but it will make a big difference to a lot of people.
I’m so sick and tired of these hateful Republicans lying about virtually everything to the very people who pay them! Or do some of them actually believe their own bull? Are they so cocooned in their cozy little world of money and privilege that they don’t know what the average American is living through?
Never mind, I already know the answer. Maybe there should be a new rule for all Senators and Representatives; for one month per year, they will be required to live in a government subsidized apartment with nothing but one month’s worth of food assistance to live on. They would be required to work five day per week (!) and use public transportation to get there. Funny, huh?
They wouldn’t do it even if it were a law. They’d cheat on it like they do everything else.
So, we’re back to just voting the bastards out of office.
