Honestly, should we be surprised that Pennsylvania Republicans spent teacher appreciation week attacking teachers?
Republicans stated the week by advancing the "Excellent Teachers Act" which goes after teacher tenure out of committee. Then the Pennsylvania Senate passed two bills that would create an independent agency that publishes the total costs public contracts and force unions to list negotiating demands going into contract talks and then 48 hours after an agreement was reached. Lastly, the House voted two EITC (Education Improvement Tax Credit) bills out of committee. This would give tax credits to anyone who donates money to private charter schools and religious schools.
