We have been hard at work polishing the site post deploy. This release is a grab bag of fixes. If anything unites the work we chose, its changes that seemed quick but with the potential to have significant effect. The full list of changes is below.
We have also be hard at work at two larger changes which we hope will go a long way to improve user experience. The first as a large set of page speed enhancements. This is a tricky bit of technology that takes the pages after they are rendered by our applications and applies a number of performance enhancements. These range from simple things like removing unnecessary whitespace characters from css and javascript files to larger changes like compressing and optimizing title and story images. The foundation for the page speed enhancements went out today and we’ll be tuning it for the next few days. The second larger change is a set of alterations to the story page design as detailed by Markos, here.
