DeRay Mckesson, a candidate for Mayor of Baltimore and prominent activist who has yet to endorse a presidential nominee, is calling for Bernie Sanders to remain in the Democratic race until the end:
DeRay also praised Bernie’s racial justice plan after tweeting that Hillary’s “detailed” racial justice policy page remains, in his view, “unfinished.”
I absolutely agree with DeRay that Bernie’s principled approach to the issues — and strong attention to lifting up workers, the poor, and people of color, in pursuit of a more compassionate, humane and just United States — is of tremendous benefit to the Democratic Party and, more importantly, our national body politic.
DeRay’s tweet came after a much-anticipated appearance by Bernie on MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow Show, where the presidential candidate touted his ability to beat Trump and, again, insisted that he will take his campaign all the way to the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.
A healthy competition is always a good thing for democracy. May the best woman or man win.
