Look, I'm busy, and I have to go pick up my working-class partner, so this is a summary of my thoughts. Never mind, you assholes, that she has two degrees… like you need to know she is educated before you will goddamn listen.
Wealth usually comes at the expense of the poor, and working class. And wealth notoriously leads to the corruption of wealthy people, leading them to become so distant and out-of-touch they don’t even know the real value, to most people, of goddamn $50.
To the rich it is pocket change.
The bottle of wine they take home and consume in a few minutes costs far more.
Yes, I know, because my beautiful, lovely partner worked at one of your fucking rich-persons’ grocery stores where the business class of Lake Oswego came in to buy $400 dollar lunches. No kidding.
To the working class, $50 is a week’s worth of food.
$400 is two months of rice and sundries.
It can even mean the difference between losing their home or keeping it.
It can mean not going hungry. It can mean not saying, “well, we will eat tomorrow, we’re fine.”
It can mean having a bowl of rice to eat.
It can mean they can afford to take their children to a doctor.
When we have such people who constitute the ruling class, the policy which issues from them leads to misery and even suicide among the poorest among us.
